Considered one of the most brilliant musicians of his generation, Juan Carlos Rodríguez is a pianist who is known for his sincerity to music and composers while always placing his fine instrumental technique at the service of the text. With a fabulous capacity for interpretation of various styles, his performances show great interpretive rigor, while revealing an amount of naturalness and freshness that make each concerto performance or recital a totally new musical experience.
In 2013, Mr Rodríguez recorded a CD with works by Robert Schumann for Naxos, containing rarely heard piano works of truly amazing musical and expressive quality. This CD was chosen one of the best albums of 2013 by the prestigious Ritmo Magazine. The review on classical.net reads: “ ... Rodríguez captures the essence of Schumann's expressive soul, skilfully revealing the music’s freshness and youthfulness through his choice of tempi, his phrasing and the well balanced dynamics”, and Ritmo finds him to be “ ... a formidable pianist with enviably good taste when it comes to Schumann ... his pianism is of a quality that was rarely heard before in this music”.
“Juan Carlos Rodríguez is a pianist with an exquisite technique ... here you can see a real expert” (The Listener).
During 2015 occurs the international release of a new CD Album for Paladino Music label, including the complete original solo piano works by Manuel de Falla. This new recording offers an excellent view about the development of the composer through his piano repertoire.
In 2014 Mr. Rodríguez made his debut in Japan with great success, including performances at Toppan Hall in Tokyo, Phoenix Hall in Osaka and Denki Bunka Kaikan in Nagoya. Engagements in the near future include piano recitals and collaborations with orchestras and chamber music ensembles throughout Europe and Asia.
Born in Cádiz, Juan Carlos Rodríguez began his musical studies in his native town and later studied in Seville under the tutelage of Pilar Bilbao, heiress of the piano school of Claudio Arrau. He participated in master classes in France and Switzerland and won first prizes at several national and international piano competitions.
